WHAT EVERY VOLUNTEER MEMBER SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU GO TO THE RANCH!
Regular daily chores include: dump/scrub/fill water buckets and troughs, stall cleaning, pasture cleaning, bathing, grooming, braiding, feeding, mowing grass, painting, maintenance, and anything else that might need to be done that day.
Please wear closed-toe shoes or boots. Attire is casual, jeans or shorts and a t-shirt. Please do not wear jewelry or clothes that are important to you as they may get ripped, lost, or stained. We still need volunteers when it is hot, cold, or rainy.
During the summer months, you may want to bring sunscreen, bug repellent, rubber boots, a raincoat, and work gloves. However, none of these items are required.
Please bring a small cooler with your own drinks, snacks, and any medication you may need as we do not have a refrigerator or vending machines.

Your participation in our "Volunteer Membership Program" is very important to us because it enables us to continue to save all of Florida's EIA-positive horses, as well as any other horses in immediate need of assistance. There will always be horses in difficult and dangerous situations but it is our mission to continue to help those that are in need of help. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization established in 1987. It is because of your continued support and generosity that we have been able to help horses for the last 35+ years.
Once you have signed up to become a volunteer member, the next step will be to sign up for the Orientation & Safety Class. Please choose the time slot that is most convenient for you. The classes are held on the first Saturday and the third Sunday of every month promptly at 1:00. If you are under the age of 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must attend the class with you. The first part of the class is informational will take 1 hour, then you will do two hours of "hands on" volunteering. At the end of the day, you will have three hours completed of volunteer service. Please arrive on time, dressed appropriately and ready to work.
First, you will need to fill out the Volunteer Member Application at the bottom of the page, then register for the required Orientation and Safety Class by simply choosing a month and then the date of your choice on the calendar by clicking here and follow the instructions to confirm your reservation.
Membership fees are due yearly on January 1st regardless of when you sign up. However, we will accept New Memberships throughout the year. The benefits of membership will vary by the level of membership you choose. (Benefits may change at any time without notice.) The money received from each "Yearly Membership Fee" will help to cover the expenses of having a volunteer program.
Please print out the final page of your PayPal transaction confirmation as your receipt and bring it with you on your first visit along with your valid ID. When you arrive at the ranch on your 1st visit, we will have you fill out all of the releases and waivers.
The Volunteer Membership process is easy to complete:
Choose the level that you would like to join. Fill out our Volunteer Membership Application then pay the yearly fee online. If the proposed member is a minor, we will need a parent’s signature on the application. Also, when you come to the facility, we will need a parent or legal guardian to come in with you and sign the releases and waivers if you are 17 or younger. Once you have completed the process, we will need you to pick a date to attend the orientation and safety class, then you will be all set to go!
